Shipping Policy
Container Market SA supplies shipping containers, portable buildings, and container-based accommodation solutions across South Africa. This policy explains how delivery works, what you need to prepare, and what happens at delivery.
Delivery Areas
We deliver nationwide within South Africa, subject to:
- safe access to the delivery location,
- route feasibility for heavy vehicles, and
- carrier availability.
Remote areas or difficult access sites may require additional lead time and/or special offloading equipment.
Delivery Quotes & Fees
Delivery fees are quoted based on:
- delivery distance,
- product type and size (e.g., General Purpose containers, Hi Cube containers, portable buildings, portable homes),
- required offloading method (e.g., crane/HIAB, forklift, mobile crane), and
- site access conditions.
The delivery charge will be confirmed on your quote/invoice prior to payment. If delivery details change after booking (address changes, rescheduling, special access constraints), additional fees may apply.
Estimated Delivery Timeframes
Delivery timeframes depend on:
- standard delivery time is 3 to 5 days, after payment confirmation.
- delivery distance and carrier scheduling,
- weather, road conditions, and other operational factors.
We will confirm an estimated delivery timeframe after your order is confirmed and delivery arrangements are approved. Delivery dates are estimates, not guaranteed times.
Scheduling & Delivery Appointments
Deliveries are scheduled by appointment. You must ensure that:
- a responsible person (18+) is available to receive the unit, and
- the site is ready and accessible at the scheduled time.
If delivery cannot be completed due to site access issues, closed premises, or an unprepared site, it may be treated as a failed delivery and additional costs (including re-delivery or standing time) may apply.
Site Access & Customer Responsibilities
You are responsible for ensuring:
- sufficient access for a large delivery vehicle (gate width, turning space, road conditions),
- firm and stable ground suitable for heavy vehicles,
- clear space for offloading and positioning,
- no overhead obstructions (trees, cables, carports, roofs), and
- any required permissions (landlord, body corporate, site manager, municipal approvals).
If you are unsure about access, request guidance before confirming delivery.
Offloading & Placement
Offloading and placement depend on the site and the product ordered. Placement is limited to what can be achieved safely using the agreed offloading method. If additional equipment or repositioning is required, extra charges may apply.
Inspection & Acceptance on Delivery
Where practical, inspect the unit on delivery before the driver leaves:
- confirm unit type/size and general condition,
- check doors and locking operation,
- check for visible transport damage.
If there is a visible issue, record it on the delivery note (if applicable) and take photos immediately. Acceptance of delivery does not limit your rights under the Consumer Protection Act (CPA).
Delays Beyond Our Control
We are not responsible for delays caused by circumstances beyond reasonable control, including severe weather, road closures, strikes, or carrier delays.
