Return Policy

This Return Policy explains how returns are handled for shipping containers, portable buildings, and container-based products supplied by Container Market SA.

CPA Rights

Where the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) applies, you have rights relating to defective goods, incorrect supply, and goods not matching the agreed description. This policy does not limit those rights.

Returns for Incorrect, Not-As-Described, or Defective Goods

You may request a return or remedy if the delivered product is:

  • incorrect (wrong size/type compared to the invoice/quote),
  • materially not as described (outside the stated condition/grade), or
  • defective beyond disclosed condition.

To request a return assessment, contact us with your invoice number and clear photos/videos.

Where the CPA applies and your claim is validated, we will provide an appropriate remedy, which may include:

  • repair,
  • replacement (subject to availability), or
  • refund (where appropriate).

Used Containers & Expected Wear

Used containers can show normal prior-use wear (dents, scratches, surface rust, repaired sections). These do not automatically qualify for return if consistent with the grade/description agreed on the quote/invoice.

Transport Damage

If delivery is arranged by Container Market SA and you believe the unit was damaged in transit:

  • inspect the unit as soon as possible upon delivery,
  • record visible issues on the delivery note (if applicable),
  • take photos immediately, and
  • notify us within 24 hours of delivery.

Change-of-Mind Returns

Due to the nature of our products (large, heavy, costly to transport, and often purchased for specific projects), change-of-mind returns are not guaranteed and may only be accepted if confirmed in writing for your specific order.

If approved in writing, change-of-mind returns typically require that:

  • the request is made within 7 days of delivery (unless stated otherwise on the invoice),
  • the product is in the same condition as delivered (no damage or modifications),
  • return transport/offloading is arranged and paid for by the customer unless agreed otherwise.

Delivery fees already paid are generally non-refundable if the delivery service was already performed, unless required by law.

Custom / Modified / Made-to-Order Products

Products that are modified, fitted out, or made to order (for example, container homes, expandable homes, bathrooms/toilets fit-outs, cut-outs, electrical/plumbing work, special finishes) may not be eligible for change-of-mind returns once work has started or materials have been allocated.

To start a return request, send:

  • invoice/order number,
  • delivery address,
  • reason for return,
  • photos/videos of the issue.

Refund Timeframes (If Approved)

Approved refunds are processed within 5–10 business days, depending on bank processing times and verification requirements.
